How many channels of music are available?

XM currently offers 130 channels of the most variety, of which 71 are commercial-free music channels.

Is seasonal holiday music available?

Yes, channels of different types of holiday music are available at no extra cost.

Can I prevent my employees from playing certain channels that might not be appropriate for my business?

Yes. All you need to do is call our XM Listener Care toll free number at 1-877-GET-XMSR or 1-877-438-9677 and have up to 11 channels from your lineup deleted.

How much does the XM for Business service cost?

Why is there a difference in cost between a commercial and consumer subscription?

A consumer account is established when customers listen to XM programming for personal use in their vehicle or home. In commercial or business settings, such as a doctor’s offices, dentist’s offices, restaurant/bars, retail stores, hair salons, malls. etc., many customers and/or employees are listening to XM programming as background music and music on hold.

Are commercial music rights fees paid by XM?

If you use only XM Canada's Radio Service in a commercial establishment as background information or music on hold XM pays your portion of musical right fees on your behalf. However, there could be other fees which could be applicable to your business. Contact SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors Music Publishers of Canada) and NRCC (Neighbouring Rights Collective of Canada) to learn more.

Is a commitment required to sign up for XM Business?

Yes. XM for Business requires that you agree to the XM subcscriber terms and conditions.

What is the charge if I want a second radio or more XM receivers to play in another part of my business?

After the first radio at a location, the XM Business service for a second radio or subsequent radios at the SAME business address is $14.99 per month.

Is there an activation fee?

Yes. The one-time activation fee varies depending on the service agreement term. View our Service Plans & Hardware to see the activation fee amounts.

What billing options are available?

XM's Business service plans can be paid in full or in quarterly installments. Payment methods available are credit card or invoice.

What equipment do I need to get XM in my business?

At a minimum you need an XM satellite receiver such as the RoadyXT with a home kit. In some instances, you may need other XM hardware for your business. Please contact us at commercial@siriusxm.ca and we will help determine the best hardware option for your business.

Do I need a sound system?

All XM receivers are designed to work with existing sound systems. If you do not have a sound system and would like to have one installed, please contact us at commercial@siriusxm.ca and we’ll be able to direct you to the appropriate installer in your area.

Where does the roof antenna mount?

The small 2.5" x 3" antenna can be mounted inside any southern facing window or skylight with a clear unobstructed view of the southern sky. The satellite signal will also penetrate some wooden roofs and XM has an extensive network of terrestrial repeaters, so other locations inside your business may work as well for the antenna. In cases where an outdoor antenna is required, the supplied 2.5" x 3" low profile antenna is weather-proof and can be easily mounted on an external wall pointing in a general southern facing direction with a clear view of the sky. Do I need an outdoor roof-mounted antenna and permission from my landlord?

In the cases where an outdoor antenna is required, the supplied 2" x 3" low profile antenna is weather-proof and can be easily mounted on an external wall with the antenna pointed in a general southern facing direction with a clear view of the sky. Roof mounting is generally not required.

Is the XM signal subject to outages from rain or snow?

No. Unlike other satellite services and music services you may be familiar with, XM's unique satellite technology is not subject to any kind of weather related outages.

Can XM provide music on hold?

Yes. There is no additional charge for this.
