What is XM + Napster?
XM+Napster gives you unlimited access to your favorite XM Radio Online music channels and Napster's music catalog of over 1,500,000 songs. With an XM+Napster membership you can:

• Listen to over 60 XM Radio Online music channels through XM + Napster. Download your favorite songs to your PC through XM + Napster in real time.
• Find out more about the artists you hear on XM Radio Online. Listen to even more songs and albums by the artists you are listening to through XM + Napster, view biographies and even get recommendations for similar artists.
• Search and browse through Napster's entire music catalog of over 1,500,000 songs and download an unlimited number of tracks on up to three PCs to listen to while online or offline. Build custom playlists.
• Build and manage your entire music collection through XM + Napster, including your favorite songs from Napster's catalog of over 1,500,000 tracks, ripped CDs and any MP3 or WMA files you already own.
• Discover and share music with other XM + Napster members.

What types of membership options are available with XM+Napster?

• XM+Napster - The version of XM+Napster that allows you to listen to and download an unlimited number of full-length tracks that can be stored and played through your PC as long as your membership is current. You can also purchase individual tracks for as low as 80¢ a song. With this membership, you must purchase tracks to burn them to CD and transfer them to your compatible MP3 player. This version requires you to enter payment information during registration.
• XM+Napster Light - The version of XM+Napster that allows you to only listen to 30 second song clips and purchase individual tracks for $0.99 each. With this membership, you must purchase tracks to transfer them to your compatible MP3 player or burn songs to CD. This version does not require you to enter payment information during registration. (Select I'll skip my Free Trial and start Napster Light at the lower right of the payment information page if you do not want to enter payment information during initial registration.)

How much does each membership cost?

• XM+Napster - For a monthly fee of $9.95 (billed directly by Napster), you will be able to download an unlimited number of tracks for use on your computer as long as your membership is current. You can also purchase individual tracks. If you elect to purchase tracks, you will be charged as little as $0.80 a track and as low as $6.95 an album (standard album price is $9.95).
• XM+Napster Light - There is no charge for using Napster Light, unless tracks are purchased You must purchase tracks in order to download them. The cost to download tracks is $0.99 per track. The cost to download an album is $6.95 and above. The standard price of an album is $9.95.

How do I transfer my account from XM + Napster Light to an XM + Napster membership or vice versa?

• Go to Account Status. Choose Change Account Status.

How do I cancel my XM+Napster membership?

• Downgrading to XM+Napster Light is the equivalent of canceling your membership. To do this, go to Account Status. Choose Change Account Status. Choose to change to XM+Napster Light. For XM-only subscription cancellation, call 1-888-GET-XMSR.

What happens if I don't cancel my trial membership?

• If you sign up for the free trial to XM + Napster and do not cancel the XM + Napster Membership during the trial, you will be charged the monthly subscription fee directly from Napster once the trial period is over.

What is XM+Napster Light?

• XM+Napster Light does not require payment information at any time, unless you elect to purchase tracks.

XM + NAPSTER Billing

When do I enter payment information?

• Should you decide to purchase a subscription to XM+Napster, payment information (credit card or Paypal information) will be required during registration after you have: (1) chosen your Member Name and password; and (2) your XM subscription status has been verified. If you do not wish to enter payment information, sign up for XM+Napster Light. (Select I'll skip my Free Trial and start Napster Light at the lower right of the payment information page if you do not want to enter payment information during initial registration.)

Why do I need to enter my payment information?

• Payment information is required to purchase an XM+Napster membership, or purchase tracks using XM+Napster Light. If you do not wish to provide payment information, but still want to manage your XM+Napster account, sign up for XM+Napster Light. (Select I'll skip my Free Trial and start Napster Light at the lower right of the payment information page if you do not want to enter payment information during initial registration.)

If I sign up for XM+Napster, can I combine billing with my XM account?

• No. XM+Napster billing cannot be combined with the billing on an XM account. You will be billed directly by Napster for your XM+Napster membership.

Do XM giftcards work with XM+Napster?

• No. XM giftcards only work for XM radio service.

System Requirements

What are the minimum system requirements I need in order to install XM+Napster?
XM+Napster, including XM Radio Online, requires the following services:

• Pentium-class CPU
• Microsoft Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Operating System*
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.1 (or higher) browser
• 64MB RAM (minimum)
• 13MB hard-disk space
• Windows Media Player 9 or higher (MediaPlayer10 recommended)
• Active internet connection (high speed connection recommended for optimal performance)
• Macromedia Flash 7+
• Soundcard with speakers or headphones

*The following Operating Systems are not supported: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows ME, Mac OS

I got an error while installing XM+Napster. Who do I contact?

• If you get an error while installing XM+Napster from the installation CD when you click on INSTALL XM+NAPSTER, please take these steps to install XM+Napster:
  
  Step 1 - Click on BROWSE CD
  
  Step 2 - Open the applications folder
  
  Step 3 - Open the xm_n_install folder
  
  Step 4 - Launch the NapsterInstall application
  
  
• If the XM+Napster installation CD fails you may be running an incompatible version of Quicktime. You must upgrade to Quicktime 7.0.3 or later. You can download and install Quicktime from the Apple website at: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
  
  
• For other questions regarding XM+Napster installation should be directed to Napster support via phone at 1-800-839-4210, or by completing an electronic, automated Help Request on XM+Napster, which can be accessed by going to Help. Then choose: Customer Support.

Using XM + NAPSTER

I've just connected my XM2go player to my PC; how do I see its contents in XM + Napster?

• Click on Library in the top right of the XM + Napster Screen. You should see an entry in the Folders list on the left of the screen with an entry corresponding to your XM2go product. Expand this folder to view the contents of your product.

Why can't I find the content I heard on XM + Napster?

• XM content is not always available in the Napster library. And, even though XM and Napster often have the same content available, they categorize their content differently. You can always use Napster's Search bar at the top of the main XM + Napster screen to look for information about any artist, track, or album.

Will I find the exact version of a track I hear on XM to download from Napster?

• Most of the time. We recommend listening to a 30 second preview of the song to make sure it's the right track.

I currently have a Napster account. How can I listen to XM?

• In order to use XM+Napster, you must be an XM radio subscriber with an active Radio ID. If you want to become an XM subscriber, go to www.xmradio.com.

Can I create presets (or favorite) channels in XM Radio Online?
Yes, the My Presets feature of XM Radio Online lets you preset up to eight channels at a time. Doing so is easy:

1. Select the XM Channels or What's On tab, then click the + button next to the channel(s) you want to add to your presets. You can also add presets by directly typing in your favorite channel number on the My Presets page.
2. To remove channels from your presets, simply click the x button.

Will XM Radio Online tell me what songs are currently playing on each channel?

• Yes, the What's On tab in the player lists every XM Radio Online channel and the song or program that is currently being played.

Can you run XM + Napster with Cookies?

Accepting cookies in Internet Explorer 6.x
At the top of your browser on the Task Bar:

1. Choose Tools
2. Choose Internet Options
3. Click the Privacy tab
4. The default setting is medium, which allows you to accept cookies. To change this setting, move the slider to the setting you prefer. If your setting has been set to Custom, click the Advanced button and choose: Accept Cookies.

Can I skip songs in XM Radio Online?

• No. Unlike other online radio services, we don't simply send a playlist to your computer. XM Radio Online is streamed live from our facilities and studios, where our DJs and music directors produce XM's great programming-by hand, transmitting in real time. So just sit back, relax and enjoy the music. We'll do the rest.

I'm signed in to XM Radio Online through XM + Napster. I have XM + Napster open and I've selected a channel. Why can't I hear any sound?
If, after launching XM + Napster and selecting a channel, you still don't hear XM Radio Online, please try the following:

1. Reboot your computer.
2. Check your speaker connections and your computer's Sounds and Multimedia settings, including the volume level.
3. In some situations, reinstalling the Windows Media Player will correct the problem. You can download and install Windows Media Player from the Microsoft website at: www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/

Why does my player say that it is "buffering?"

• Buffering is the process of receiving music data a few seconds ahead of what is currently playing, for the purpose of providing consistent playback. Buffering can also happen when your computer is having problems receiving a continuous stream of audio.

If you are experiencing constant buffering, click on the Settings button and select the Low Bandwidth Usage option. If you are using a Broadband (DSL, Cable, LAN) connection and experience buffering, it is most likely due to high Internet or network traffic from your Internet Service Provider, and should be temporary.

My music keeps skipping/cutting out. How do I fix it?

• If your XM + Napster player is skipping, it could be because you're trying to listen to XM Radio Online at a higher bandwidth than your current Internet connection will support. To change your settings, select Options from the XM+Napster File menu. Lower your bandwidth setting and then re-start the application.

Surfing to other web sites or pages while listening to XM Radio Online can also reduce the amount of bandwidth available to stream music to your computer. Try closing other running applications.

Purchasing

How do I purchase an album/individual track?

• You can purchase an album or individual track by right-clicking on the track title and selecting Buy Track or Buy Album from the dropdown menu.

Why am I not always able to purchase tracks I hear on XM?

• XM content is not always available in the Napster library. And, even though XM and Napster often have the same content available, they categorize their content differently. You can always use Napster's Search bar at the top of the main XM + Napster screen to look for information about any artist, track, or album.

I have the option to download or purchase a track in XM + Napster (subscription service). What's the difference?

• Dependent on the rights of the content, tracks may be available for downloading through your XM + Napster membership, or purchasing on top of your membership fees.

Explicit Content

How do I block explicit content on XM+Napster?

• You can block explicit content on XM+Napster by going to My Account and selecting Member Information. There you can edit your member information to exclude explicit content.

Other

If I am already a Napster member and have an XM subscription, can I convert to XM+Napster?

• Yes. Sign in as a Napster member. Go to My Account, Account Status and click the XM + Napster link. Submit your XM radio ID and billing zip code on the form provided to convert your account.

Can I still listen to XM Radio Online?

• Yes. You can still listen to XM Radio Online through XM+Napster. From the Radio dropdown menu, choose: XM Radio Online.

Are all XM satellite radio channels available through XM+Napster?

• XM Radio Online offers all of the XM Satellite Radio channels for which we have Internet performance rights. Certain third-party content may not be available over the Internet through XM Radio Online. Please refer to the XM Radio Online Channel Lineup for the channel list.
